Gas leak sensor do it yourself

Hello! In this article I will tell you about how to make a simple gas leakage sensor with your own hands from the available parts.
Probably, now even any schoolboy knows that such a dangerous gas as methane does not smell, and it is simply not possible to detect it in the air without special devices. Methane is a major component of natural gas. Methane, the same gas that flows through the pipes and in your home, for the little change that it is specially add smelling additives, so that it can be detected by a person through the smell.

But if it can be smelled, then why make the sensor you ask? The fact is that a person can smell the already dangerous concentration of gas. At the same sensor sensitivity is higher. And if there is a slight gas leak in the room for several hours, this concentration may be odorless, but there will be a 100% danger of explosion. In order to avoid this and to divert the beginner low concentrations of gas in the air, and use sensors for the presence of gas.
This, of course, is most likely a test project, which shows the basic principle of working with a gas sensor, but no one will further prevent you from improving and making a serious project out of it.
I will give a list of parts and materials that are needed to build our sensor. (Link to the store)
1. Circuit board.
2. 9V battery and connector.
3. On / off button.
4. 7805 regulator.
5. Buzzer.
6. BC547 NPN transistor (suitable for any n-p-n structure).
7. Resistors and LEDs.
8. 555 IC timer.
9. Capacitors.
10. Gas sensor.
11. Other materials, such as soldering iron, solder, flux and wires.

So let's start setting up this project!
Gas leak sensor do it yourself

The layout is pretty simple. Its heart is the gas sensor brand MQ-02, but you can also use the sensors MQ-05, MQ-04.

MQ-02- reacts with propane, methane, alcohol vapors, hydrogen, smoke. The gas sensor MQ-02 is a complete module. It has an amplifier and a variable resistor on the board, with which you can adjust the sensitivity.
My scheme consists of a multivibrator assembled on a timer chip "555".

The job is simple:When a certain level is exceeded, a multivibrator is started on the timer at the output of which an LED and a buzzer with a built-in generator are connected. An intermittent signal sounds and the LED flashes. The device is powered by a 9 volt battery, through a stabilizer is reduced to 5 volts.
