How do people communicate?

Communication is an integral part of society. The types of information transfer from one person to another have evolved over thousands of years. Only by talking can a person become a normal member of society, assimilate the norms and rules accepted there. Many are interested in the meaning of conversation in everyday life. Why do people communicate? There are several reasons for this:

  1. exchange of various information in different ways;
  2. assimilation of diverse information;
  3. systematization of knowledge in different areas, the development of the ability to draw conclusions;
  4. socialization.

If a person is sociable, he boldly establishes new contacts and always remains the center of attention. Such a person will always have something to say. Sociability fill a person's life with new acquaintances, useful knowledge and deeds. This is why people communicate. Of course, the difference in communication with the boss and friends is felt, but each communication gives its result:

  • A business meeting will give you a sense of personal worth, which will increase with each business event.
  • Communicating with friends, close people gives you the opportunity to develop thinking, solve problems, get to know people closer and enjoy a pleasant dialogue.

In any form of communication there are three sides that are interconnected:

  • The exchange of information that takes place between people is the communicative side;
  • The organization of mutual understanding and interaction between people, which consists in the distribution of functions, coordination and organization of actions. This is all interactive side of communication.
  • Understanding between the interlocutors, which arises in the process of perceiving each other, is a promising side.

Means of communication

How do people communicate? Some means are used to create communication:

  1. Language - the right words, the expression of thoughts that will be understood by the interlocutor.
  2. Intonation in the process of communication, emotions that betray a different meaning to a single phrase.
  3. Facial expressions and gestures that add meaning to the monologue.
  4. Gestures that serve to add emotion or meaning to phrases.

Communicating, people create each other, because without communication a person cannot be a formed person with his personal opinion. In our communication there are several types that are clearly formed:

  • Verbal communication is speech itself. With this method, everything is clear, because each of us communicates, expresses verbally his own opinion and thoughts.
  • Non-verbal communication is body language, which is an important part of our communication. When we see a dialogue, we use gestures, postures, and views that give impulses to the interlocutors.

What a person says and shows his body are different things. You can get completely different information from verbal and non-verbal communication with a person. In most situations, a person perceives precisely non-verbal signals from a person.

Non-verbal communication can contain a number of functions:

  1. Repetition (confirmation of the oral dialogue).
  2. Contradiction (for example, the eyes of a person may show sadness, and his phrases talk about joy and fun).
  3. Replace (some gestures replace words).
  4. Addition (gestures can add brightness to your phrases).
  5. Emphasis (underline, adding emotion to phrases).

The main elements of non-verbal communication:

  • gaze of a man;
  • expression of your face and facial expressions;
  • gestures;
  • posture during a dialogue;
  • distance between you and the other person;
  • touch;
  • the intonation of your voice.

It is impossible to fake non-verbal signals and impulses. They will even depend on where people communicate.If you are in an uncomfortable situation, playing up emotions will overwhelm you, it will immediately become noticeable by your gestures, gaze and facial expressions.

In communication, be confident and natural, then you can endear to any interlocutor, as well as leave a pleasant and positive opinion about yourself.
