Probably, there is no such textbook on computer technology, which does not deal with the topic “optimization of RAM”. Although the developers of modern operating systems use various software methods to improve the work with the memory subsystem, the problem is still far from complete solution.Among users, with enviable consistency, the question “how to clean the RAM” is raised, which undoubtedly indicates the existence of a problem. And she really is.
How does the "RAM"
In order to understand what is actually being discussed, it is necessary to clarify the principle of the memory subsystem operation in a computer. We give it schematically, which is easier to understand. Obviously, if a person already knows how to clean the RAM, then he probably knows a more detailed model, including the kernel section, the virtual unit, the heap, and so on.A newcomer who is interested in how to optimize RAM, such complexity is useless.
The code of any running application is not immediately sent to the processing unit by the central processor, but is first loaded into memory cells — the very bars or modules with their gigabytes of volume. Moreover, the amount occupied by a code can significantly exceed the size of the application file itself (and the entire folder). For each running program, the system allocates the required amount. Also, sometimes the mechanism is used to reset the data in a special file on the disk - the so-called virtual memory.
Imagine that the total amount of modules is a box. Each running program (its code) is a cube that neatly fits into free space. As the box is filled, some cubes are moved to the box, which is located at some distance. That is, access to it is slower. At first glance, such a scheme is quite efficient, but there are several nuances that have to be learned how to clean the RAM.

In this case, the operating system begins to “dump” the most unclaimed parts of the code into the paging file (carry the cubes into the box).
