News from Russia: continuing decline in prices for essential drugs
I think you will agree with me that drugs are one of the most important inventions of mankind. Every day, work is underway to improve the old and develop new medicines, searching for methods of treatment for those diseases against which people do not yet have weapons. Russia today has largely succeeded in this area and itself produces the entire list of vital and important medicines.
Due to the globalization of the market, not only domestic medicines can be found on the shelves of Russian pharmacies, but also their foreign counterparts. As various studies and public sympathies show, the difference in their effectiveness is insignificant. However, in terms of price, the Russian manufacturer is confidently winning, because its product is usually much cheaper than a foreign competitor.
However, despite the already low cost of domestic drugs, one or other essential and most important medications can hit a certain category of citizens. This includes people with low incomes or, for example, those who cannot work due to their health condition. For this and some other reasons, the price for this category of goods decreased by the end of 2017 by a few percent. As noted by the Ministry of Health, this was facilitated by the state policy of price regulation.
It should be noted that the cost of any other products due to inflation and some other factors is growing every year. At the same time, the cost of essential medicines, as noted above, has decreased due to government initiatives. At the same time, it is expected that in the next few years the price for this category of goods will continue to decline. Thus, by actually establishing a moratorium on increasing the prices of essential drugs, the state makes them more accessible to the population, which will undoubtedly have a positive effect on their welfare and health.
